hello!
and welcome to my portfolio!
My name is Charly Frank and I am a recent graduate from Colorado State University with a B.A. in Journalism and Media Communication complemented by minors in Global Environmental Sustainability and Media, Stage, and Sports Production. I am currently working with Barnfly Productions and Tree Stump Films as a videographer and video editor. I don’t just capture moments, I prefer to build worlds in my work by layering texture, feeling, human connection, and story into every frame. I get to know the people behind the lens, then translate their essence into emotional and aesthetically pleasing visual stories.

I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado where nature is just out the backdoor, and I am grateful to have developed such a strong relationship with the outdoors through hiking, biking, and enjoying my surroundings as inspiration for my artwork which I create in my free time. To supplement this love for the outdoors, I completed a minor in Global Environmental Sustainability while at Colorado State University and now bring environmental sustainability into everything I do.

My expertise is in creating video from start to finish; from scriptwriting and storyboarding, to using a wide selection of camera gear to film stories, to editing with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. Recently I competed in the BEA 48-hour short film festival, where my crew won 1st place overall, a testament to my directing abilities, editing proficiency, and camera skills. A short film I shot and produced, Pop Punk Grandma, was also recently nominated for the Heartland Regional Student Emmy Awards and it will be showing at the ACT International Human Rights Film Festival in Fort Collins in Spring 2026. However, my work is not limited to video. When I am not working on film, I also take photographs and edit them in Adobe Lightroom classic; design print layouts, and create multimedia artwork.

I can find joy and purpose in any work that I do, so I hope to explore that further as I go through my professional career. My dream is to become a human rights documentary filmmaker and shine a light on important stories around the world and hopefully make a difference in people’s lives.
